Conferences

Euro-ataxia organises in-person Annual Conferences which are vital for strengthening the relationships between Euro-ataxia members, clinicians, researchers and other international patient groups. The agenda for these meetings typically includes lay talks from researchers, updates from investigators and pharma on recent clinical trials, and presentations from patient organisations about their latest projects and initiatives. We often host these conferences alongside existing research conferences, such as the International Congress for Ataxia Research, to capitalise on access to a wider network of European researchers and clinicians present at these events.

The 2025 International Patient Conference, hosted by Euro-ataxia took place in Amsterdam on the 28th and 29th of October. Speakers included pharmaceutical company representatives, giving updates on their clinical programmes, and academic speakers discussing their work on outcome measures, amongst other things. A selection of patient organisations presented the role they have to play in regulatory decisions on treatments for ataxia, and in the decisions on whether treatments will be paid for by the health service in their country.
